JOEY BRENNEMAN is a director, actor, writer and producer. She directed two shows in the NYIFF last summer, Two Girls and The Timing of A Day, which won an overall excellence award for Best Ensemble and is being remounted in March 2011.  For many years, Joey was the artistic director of the award winning STAR Theater/ The NiteStar Program where she also worked as a writer, actor and teacher, using theater to educate about urgent adolescent issues. She has directed films and PSA’s  promoting healthy decision-making and pregnancy prevention for teens.  Her film, Taking a Step Back, was selected by the Urban Visionaries Film Festival and won the “Best of Specials” award from Manhattan Neighborhood Network.  As an actor, she has worked off-off Broadway, in regional theater, commercials, voice-overs and numerous educational films and videos.  Joey has written and produced her own work in New York City and is the co-producer/founder of Above the Bridge, a playground for writers in Northern Manhattan.  Joey is married to actor, Craig Waletzko and has two daughters, Hallie and Zadie.
